Redthreat’s October Recommendations

Ra Ra Riot : 10/05 // Metro

This tour will be in support of their latest album, The Orchard. If this is your bag, check out their Daytrotter Session, which was recorded recently.

Ra Ra Riot – Boy (RAC Mix)

Atmosphere : 10/07 // Congress Theater

The king of the midwest is back- Slug’s bringing a slew of label affiliates with him, too, for the To All My Friends Tour. Still easily my favorite MC.

Atmosphere – Party For The Fight To Write

Delphic : 10/12 // Metro

These guys will be opening for Temper Trap. I missed a gig of theirs earlier this year- not going to repeat that mistake. What a dynamic billing.

Delphic – Halcyon (Michael Mayer Remix)

Surfer Blood/The Drums : 10/14 // Lincoln Hall

Nice to see that two of the Summer’s most successful indie bands will be playing under the same roof. I still can’t get enough of Astro Coast.

Surfer Blood – Anchorage

Massive Attack : 10/15 // The Riviera

Touring to benefit War Child, Massive Attack will be gracing the Riv with Thievery Corp. Heligoland shows their lasting impact through 2 decades.

Massive Attack – Paradise Circus (Gui Boratto Remix)

Gorillaz : 10/16 // UIC Pavillion

Saw Gorillaz at Coachella with my sister this year and they were great. Well worth shelling out the 65-110 clams for. Quite a rarity of a show..

Gorillaz – Stylo (Alex Metric Remix)

Band Of Horses : 10/19 // The Riviera

If any band could achieve better sound than these guys, I wanna hear it. This latest tour will be in support of their album, Infinite Arms.

Band Of Horses – No One’s Gonna Love You

Deerhunter : 10/22 // Metro

Ok, so I missed their *secret show* & they’re touring with Real Estate?? Sold. Tell me no more- I’m sold. Also, Halcyon Digest is amazing, so..

Deerhunter – Revival

LCD Soundsystem : 10/25 // Aragon Ballroom

These guys need no introduction around these parts, I’m assuming. Trust in James Murphy & Pat Mahoney. They know much.

LCD Soundsystem – You Wanted A Hit (Dave Dresden Remix)

Two Door Cinema Club : 10/27 // Lincoln Hall

The Kitsune-backed Irish outfit released their outstanding first album, Tourist History, this March. Nice to see LH supporting good dance tunes.

Two Door Cinema Club – I Can Talk (Crystal Fighters Remix)

Bear In Heaven : 10/29 // Lincoln Hall

The highlight for me at Pitchfork 2010. Beast Rest Forth Mouth is a stunning album, with an almost equally awesome remix followup.

Bear In Heaven – Lovesick Teenagers

Blood Red Shoes : 10/29 // Subterranean

I’ve had this one on repeat over here for weeks now. Brighton’s Blood Red Shoes sure lit it up with Fire Like This. Very energetic music.

Blood Red Shoes – Light It Up
