I still love this Foals remix to death. Supermayer and Ewan Pearson lent their talents a year or two ago and they’re still just as fresh as ever.

Bear In Heaven play tonight at Lincoln Hall. Boasting one of my favorite LPs of last year, as well as live performances at P4k, you could say I’m a little bit excited for this one. As far as I know tix are still selling, too.
Bear In Heaven – Deafening Love
The rest of this post will be looking backwards to an era that makes kids these days look like a bunch of pussies. The Minor Threat, who released this around the same time I was born, kicking Washington DC’s teeth in properly.
Minor Threat – I Dont’ Wanna Hear It
Here’s another one I’ma throw at you. It’s The Lillingtons “Black Hole In My Mind” off of Death By Television. Makes me wanna smash government property with my skateboard deck and run from the cops. Best era ever.
The Lillingtons – Black Hole In My Mind
Topping this off is my favorite Chicago punk band: Screeching Weasel. Another late 80′s legendary Lookout! Records gem, last night me & Rupert were talking about how fucking awesome Boogadaboogadaboogada still is.

LOL Boys are set to grace Evil Olive this Thursday. Recently releasing the 123 EP on PalmsOut, as well as high profile remixes for acts like Midnight Juggs & Hot City, to say these two are mobilized is an understatement. Plus Markus is a good friend, and a Hotbizzies rep, so you know it’ll be mad legit.

Got an update from my man, Air Stegosaurus, of Bad Dudes the other day. He went ahead and filled me in on their premiere mix for 119 Sound, and I thought I’d share the goodness with you. Bass done right.

I cooked up a little something spooky for y’all this week. Hope you enjoy. Some new, some old. All good. It’s starting to feel like Halloween around these parts- I’m going to go as Frank from Donnie Darko this year.
Black Ghosts : Any Way You Choose To Give It (The Whip Remix)
Zombie Nation – Squeek (Bart B More Remix)
Delphic : Halcyon (Deadboy Remix)
Gemeni Club – Ghost (Hey Champ Remix)

Next Saturday, Congress Theater in throwing the 2nd annual Freaky Deaky Halloween Party with Chromeo, Atrak, Theophilus London, and Kid Sister, along with a whole gang of awesome local Chicago talent.
So you want free tickets? Thought so. So I’m pleased to announce that we have a pair of tickets to give away to a lucky winner via Cold Grums Productions. All you have to do is send an email to enter the drawing.
Chromeo – Don’t Turn The Lights On (Christian Martin Remix)

It’s hard to peg Fang Island, even by listening to Fang Island. Colorful noise-rock? Post-punk? Or “Everyone high-fiving everyone”? Idk, but I’m glad they’re on the road right now, cruising through the midwest in November.
Jonsi cancelled his in-store appearances for the rest of his tours. He’ll still be doing his concert gigs, still hitting The Vic on 11/03. Those of you who were excited for a Reckless Records acoustic gig should go and buy tickets
Been revisiting Turbo Fruits this past week. Makes me upset that I missed their latest gig here with Those Darlins. Can’t catch all of ‘em, but you can go and pick up Echo Kid, their shit-kicking Fat Possum full-length. Woohoo!

Sports lit up on my radar a few days ago, in particular, the track “To Catch A Thief”. Loose synths paired with haunting vocals produce a delicate, ambient pop that I’ve been really enjoying. I’m excited to see what’s next.
Here’s one from the lovely duo Cotton Jones‘ premiere release, Paranoid Coccoon. Tunes like these beg for long nights & glasses of whiskey, and for follow-ups, like their recently released Tall Hours In The Glowstream.
Seems I’m on a Twin Shadow train lately, going wherever they want to take me at this point. If you’re like me, you’re still mesmerized by Forget. Well here’s a remix done for Hooray For Earth that has stuck with me.
Hooray For Earth – Surrounded By Your Friends (Twin Shadow Remix)
Among the many CMJ bands this year, I’d be particularly interested to see reactions to Lower Dens. I haven’t had a chance to see ‘em myself, and I really like Twin-Hand Movement. Here’s one from it..
Band Of Horses were amazing last night.

“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.”
~Plato

Pretty happy about the new Space Ranger release, Chocolate Bar, which was released day before yesterday on JunoDownloads. Take a preview over here, and then listen listen their prior original number from the Superstring EP.
Got some mail from Anoraak last night. He was talking about the tour and his latest album, Wherever The Sun Sets, which will see a global physical release in the next 2 weeks. He also threw out this freebie for me to post.
Siobhan Wilson – Getting Me Down (Anoraak Remix)
Slutty Fringe turned me on to this Catz N Dogz edit of El Guincho’s “Bombay” the other day and I thought I would share it with you. Gems like this gets me excited for their full-length, Escape From The Zoo.

Flux Pavillion‘s Line In Wax EP is blazing hot right now. Released about a week ago on Circus Records, here’s one from it, titled “Haunt You” that should get your blood moving on this Saturday Afternoon.
Oh hell yeah- this Rennaisance Man edit of the Aphex Twin standard, “Windowlicker”, surely got my attention quickfast. There’s was a limited WAV release for those of you were quick to the jump, but it’s gone now..
Aphex Twin – Windowlicker (Rennaisance Man Bootcut)
This one right here’s an older one- a Squire Of Gothos remix of the mighty Nas‘ “Life’s A Bitch” off Illmatic. As for more recent tunage- go pick up Squire’s We Do Scorpion Thingz on Rag And Bone right quick.
Nas – Life’s A Bitch (Squire Of Gothos Remix)
Y’all got your Sleigh Bells tix yet? Shit’s gonna sell out and there’ll be a bunch of sorry-ass kids outside of Metro beggin’. Just like the Rusko gig last night. Here’s a solid Kingdom remix to get you on your Game.
Sleigh Bells – Tell ‘Em (Kingdom Remix)
Gotta throw this one in here: Casettes Won’t Listen remixed “You” by Gold Panda recently. A bit of a “Porcelain” feel to it, right? If you haven’t picked up Lucky Shiner by now you are seriously slacking.
