Who’s excited for the Klaxons show at Lincoln Hall this Thursday? This is their 2nd Chicago gig, and I’m pretty sure it’s not sold out yet. I’m interested to see what they bring to the table, ’cause I ain’t seen them yet either.

CFCF‘s “Before And After Light” was put up a few days ago, and is now a freebie. This is the first glimpse we have of The River -which you can preorder- that will be out on RVNG Intl on October 12th. Nicely done.
Mimosa‘s Silver Lining out a little bit ago, and your’s truly has been cleared to post “Pushing Little Daisies” for ya. West-Coast dubstep done the way it should be. Vibe & charm here, less anger and frustration. Nicely done.
Mimosa – Pushing Little Daisies
Bit of a curveball here: Three Six Mafia‘s latest, “Keep My Name Out Ya Mouth” received some well-deserved remixing by Bird Peterson. Quite a fun track, all-in-all, this is definitely one you’d want to play out.
Three Six Mafia – Keep My Name Out Ya Mouth (Bird Peterson Remix)
I can’t go a post without at least mentioning Azari & III these days. Here’s one off of their Indigo EP, which was released on Tiga’s own, Turbo Recordings, two weeks back or so. Lots of momentum coming from these two.
Halloween’s comin’ a few weeks early it seems. Check out oOoOO‘s haunting and disorienting take on Salem‘s “Asia”. That being said, peep the original, and get yourself a copy of the King Knight release, which dropped… today!
Now to look forward to Bot’Ox‘s Blue Steel EP, out October 4th. Along with Still Going‘s remix, there’s versions by Para One & Tacteel, Azari & III (of course..), Hannulelauri, and a delectable remix by I:Cube.

I don’t know what it is right now, but I’m really feelin’ bass music. Hence my prior posting and such. Well here’s some more of that, or some purple music, as some would say. It’s Gemmy‘s take on “Quicksand” by La Roux.
La Roux – Quicksand (Gemmy Remix)
Another strong vox-forward track to get your blood movin’- the dBridge remix of Magnetic Man‘s “Perfect Stranger”, which will be available for purchase at the start of October, followed shortly by their entire LP.
Magnetic Man – Perfect Stranger (dBridge Remix)
While I’m waiting for Ill Blu‘s Blu Magic release, I’ve got this Hot Chip remix that didn’t get the proper traction I feel it deserved. I’m not sure why, ’cause it’s a nice edit. Here’s a second chance if you missed it.
Hot Chip – I Feel Better (Ill Blu Remix)
And to finish, here’s C.R.S.T‘s remix of Count & Sinden‘s “After Dark”. This one made waves a few weeks back right before Mega Mega Mega was released. Get that, and C.R.S.T’s latest, Revival EP.

Anoraak‘s album Wherever The Sun Sets is now out! Here’s one of his his latest, an alternative version of “Don’t Be Afraid” with the lyrical accompaniment courtesy of Sally Shapiro. Worth the wait, indeed.
Anoraak – Don’t Be Afraid feat. Sally Shapiro (Alternative Version)
Never much to complain about when it comes to new music from Twin Sister. “Meet The Frownies” is a product of studio time spent over at Weathervane via The Shaking Through program. You can also watch it if you’d like.
Twin Sister – Meet The Frownies
Heard this one over at The Burning Ear. Swell site, there. Trophy Wife is another UK indie band who are on tour currently with Foals & Crystal Fighters. Not a bad slot to have, and I can see why they have it.
Finishing with fireworks, here’s the latest from Bassnectar: A Deftones remix that sets itself apart from most of the other remixes I’ve heard by him. Now’s the time to buy tickets for the Halloween gig if you’re going.

Jimi Hendrix died forty years ago today. Widely regarded as the greatest electric guitar player of all time to this day, he is still missed.
Excited
September 18, 2010Stoked to see Best Coast tonight! I wanna see some crowd surfing. That is all.
Swagger
September 17, 2010
PalmsOut is always on the edge of the blade in terms of what’s hot. Always. The first formally released Udachi single is no different. Swagger‘s got a lot to boast about, with remixes by Tactic, AC Slater, Andreas Bygdell, Deathface & this Baobinga version they’re unleashing for free. Best go snag a copy.

Metro/Smartbar are running shop tomorrow- Titus Andronicus, Best Coast, Free Energy & Male Bonding under the Metro roof to kick off the night. What a spectacular Indie showcase. Then, downstairs at Smartbar we have Mowgli‘s 1st Chicago appearance. Two ridiculous weekends in a row! I’m spoiled.
Titus Andronicus – Four Score Part One
Blackbird Blackbird
September 16, 2010
With the Rarities EP and colorful synthpop remixes done for artists like Local Natives & Twin Sister, Blackbird Blackbird‘s got momentum, begging comparison to artists like Washed Out and Gold Panda. And more to come! Look out for Summer Heart, & a split 7″ w/ Pao Pao out on Double Denim.

Hell ya, another Warpaint track to share. This one comes hot off their forthcoming album, The Fool, set to be released on Rough Trade this October. Definitely something to look forward to this Autumn.
Another album to look forward to this October comes from a local group, who call themselves Houses. This enchantingly mellow tune, “Soak It Up”, is the one that caught my ear. Check out the “Endless Spring” video, too.
And one more from Radio Dept. A political piece, titled “New Improved Hypocrisy” and is out right in time for the Swedish elections coming up this Sunday. If they were Americans, the song would probably be more angry..
Glitch Mob @ Metro
September 14, 2010
Good news for bassheads- Glitch Mob are in Chicago with MartyParty, playing Metro tomorrow before they head to Australia. For early celebration, here’s an ESKMO remix of “Fistful of Silence”.

Frankie Rose & The Outs let a track go early this morning. The song is suitably titled “Candy”, and is a delicious first glimpse of their forthcoming self-titled album set to be released next week on Slumberland.
Frankie Rose & The Outs – Candy
Another silly name, but Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin seems pretty serious about making great music. Produced by Chris Walla of Death Cab, here’s the title track off of their latest album.
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin – Let It Sway
Currently touring through the Pacific Northwest, Grass Widow are an all-girl band out of Sacramento promoting their latest album Past Time. Here’s one that I’m particularly fond of, and here’s the Tour Dates.
Another heads up, Those Darlins released the Night Jogger/Funstixx single today. Here’s the A-Side, I’ll leave it up to you to get your hands on the other track, and get tickets for the 9/22 Lincoln Hall gig.
JEFF the Brotherhood are a sibling duo that create some insane noise/grunge rock, and they’re on a pretty extensive country-wide sweep right now. But hey, why not? Heavy Days was a great album.
Sunshine

I’ve been getting into Donovan pretty heavily. A flower power pioneer, he yielded many great psychedellic pieces in the ’60′s, including “Sunshine Superman”, which topped US charts. Check out his Greatest Hits.
Martyn @ Sonar Chicago
September 9, 2010
At 8:00 tonight, Martyn will be playing Pritzker Pavillion on behalf of the Sonar Chicago Fest. Regarded as one of the more innovative & ground-breaking names in the dub realm these days, his album, Great Lengths, is well worth your coin. Sonar festivities continue afterwards at Smartbar..

Bear In Heaven really impressed me at P4k this Summer, so since then I’ve been impatiently waiting for Beast Rest Forth Mouth: Remixed. Here’s a glimpse of Studio‘s remix. Other features include works by The Field, Justin K. Broadrick and Jesu. Bear in Heaven are also touring right now.
