Neon Gold’s crown jewel, Passion Pit, is slated to perform Friday at Congress Theater. I’ll consider this one a preview of the forthcoming Coachella performance- I’m betting they get a sunset slot. Who’s excited?
Beach House are in town Thursday! Being one of my favorite indie acts, it’s only fitting they’re at Metro, my favorite venue. Should be a damn good time.
The 2010 Coachella Music Festival kicks off in four short weeks. This will be my sixth installment, having never missing one since 2005. I look forward to nothing more. Now I wish I had a pair to tickets to give out, because I don’t. But if you’re still on the fence about going, here’s a little motivation..
“1AM we at the club. 2AM we shakin’ it up. 3AM we at my house. 3:15 and I’m kickin’ her out. Yeah.” Here’s a few gems from Gerd they gave out some months ago. They live by the motto: Analog adored, Digital deplored. Truth.
Well it’s Saturday night, and I can’t think of anywhere else to be but Rodan. Why? Cause it is Frique‘s Birthday!!! Some people know him as Terry. Terrence. Frique.. a slew of other names. Jevon Jackson and Yazi The Dj know him as the force behind the decks.
Oh, hell yeah- Radio Slave is in town this Friday with James Teej. Spybar is on a winning streak and I’m lovin’ every minute of it. Here’s a little preview of what I expect to be a major highlight of this year’s DEMF. As always: Mention “EGO” at the door for free entry before Midnight. Thanks, John.
Last year was my first journey to Detroit for the Movement 2009 Festival. What a game-changer. I walked away from the experience with a refreshing new take on what it means to ‘Get Down.’ I <3 Techno.
Early Bird Special: Paxahau announced discounted super early bird weekend passes ($40!!) for the Movement Electronic Music Festival, and unveiled a partial list of the artists scheduled to perform in downtown Detroit!
Date: Memorial Day Weekend: May 29-31st. [Buy Tickets!]
Junkie XL can do no wrong. Here’s his latest efforts, a remix of Crookers latest track with Yelle doing guest vocals. Definitely something to get your week started right.
Everyone seems to have been waiting for the latest Caribou release, Swim. After “Odessa,” I don’t blame them. A few tracks have leaked on a few blogs so far, but here’s an older one that has been seemingly looked over for a while now: Hot Chip‘s “She’s The One” remix.
More Sweat It Out news over here. Here we have us Swick, who, with Grow Up, may have found the hookiest sample on the internet. Cassian came through with his own rendition, adding a little punk & funk to this party rocker.
It’s been much too long since I’ve posted a RAC remix. I remember when they sent me their Shins remix years back. This time they’ve set their sights on one of the more up & coming folk groups that have been making headlines lately: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. As always, the remix is a focused and well thought through effort. I’ll include both tracks for the helluvit.
Loco Dice & Martin Buttrich are playing Spybar tomorrow en route through the US on A Desolat Bus Tour. Here’s the deal: Mention “Ego” at the door for free entry before Midnight. [more loco dice]
Sadly, Brandon Sek pulled the plug on Curb Crawlers today.. Fortunately you can still find him over at Happy Please from now on, with the help of his friend DuVall and fellow Ginder, Flora!
I’ve been waiting for a while for new Kavinsky material. The legendary road warrior is back with a forthcoming Nightcall EP, released on Record Makers with input from Daft Punk, CSS & SebastiAn. Here’s the remix by fellow French Ed Banger rep, Breakbot.
Dada Life‘s latest efforts, the Love Vibrations single, is set to be released later this month, on March 23rd. Among remixes is this stellar D.I.M. number that is sure to turn heads. Expect more news on the Dada later, when they announce their upcoming US tour!
I also have this new one by 3 Is A Crowd, made in collaboration with En Masse (aka Supabeatz and Meno) which includes this remix by Mike Genius that I really enjoy. Pick up The Solomon EP on Beatport when you get a chance!
I’m not quite sure how this Crazy P remix slipped my radar for so long, but it’s time I made up for it. Here’s the Mujava track, “Township Funk,” that got their Disco House treatment. Also.. if you haven’t heard “Caught Up” yet, I’d suggest you get yourself, well..
This Luxury Living remix is amazing. It’s the Penguin Prison track “Something I’m Not” warped and refinished for afterhours lounges moreso than midnight dancefloor massacres. Slowly building, 2/3 of the way through the track is where the real magic starts.
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve had any news from Foals. Here’s a Mt Kimbie remix of “Spanish Sahara,” that they threw out when announcing they’re touring the UK. Keep an eye out for Total Life Forever, out early May.
Tiga has been held in high esteem over here for quite some time here. Last Gang Records are releasing a deluxe version of Tiga’s Ciao! through iTunes soon. Aside from Chromeo‘s piece, expect works from Steve Aoki and A-Trak as well. New work from Chromeo this fall.
Tiga – What You Need (Chromeo Remix)
Picked this one up from Discobelle the other day. Another grimy Jakwob remix that I can’t seem to put down. Audio Bullys‘ Only Man single will be released on the 22nd, the full album, Higher Than The Eiffel, on the 29th.
One good turn deserves another! Here’s another throwback. It’s the Moulinex (one “L” at the time..) remix of Cazals‘ “Somebody Somewhere.” When this track debuted, I think I played it over a thousand times. Another one that landed very high at the end of my year-end Best Of list.
