Who’s Afraid of DEMF?

March 30, 2009

I’m not. In one it’s roughest years in the past century, Detroit will have reason for rejoice for one solid weekend where artists from around the world will come and pay tribute to the city that started techno. The Detroit Electronic Music Festival kicks off during Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25, and you can pick up tickets Here.

In other tributes, the music video to Claude Von Stroke’s “Who’s Afraid of Detroit?” was shot in parts of Detroit, Chicago and DEMF itself. As a Detroit native, aside from taking masterful control of the single itself- Von Stroke felt it would only be fitting for him to execute the music video in it’s entirety as well. Audion also put together an amazing remix of the track that is well worth it’s own recognition.

@ nicko: As a Detroit native that has gone to all previous DEMF/Movement Festivals I can tell you that there will be many many after parties, few will be good, many will suck. Look for ones at the bars, especially any of the paxahau sponsored events (The Prodigy is opening the weekend at the main pre-party). I have been to several after parties in my DEMF history and it’s definitely a crap shoot. Good luck, and I guarantee you will have a blast.

  5. I usually go to Ghostly/Spectral affiliated parties. I went to an Oslo after party last year. Par Grindvik played and was fantastic. The place had super sound. It was small and intimate. Moby made a surprise guest appearance and we got kicked from the area we were sitting in so they could rope it off for him. We simply cut through it later and proceeded to laugh and tell him how much we wanted his body as we walked off. Hehe.
