Sucks that I had to work last weekend when Designer Drugs was in town, apparently tearing the roof off of Liars Club from what I ‘ve been told. I’m glad that they are coming through here more often. However, someone did give me a copy of the promo album Iheartcomix was throwing out that night, and this song is on a constant repeat in my car right now.
Protokoll – Moving Forward (Designer Drugs Remix)
I was sent this track the other day by a friend of the group, Love Between Equals. “Young Love” is a pretty straightforward piece, with distorted vocals over a grinding electro backbone that balances out pretty well as it develops. Check it out.

New DJ Hell coming our way in the form of “The Angst”- the first track to drop from the latest LP, Teufelswerk or “Devil’s Work”. A divided release, in the forms of dueling concepts: day & night, where there is a record assigned to both edges of the spectrum. Hell claims this is his most important release to date, even bringing on other producers to help him with his concept, and judging by the focus and execution of “The Angst”, I’m sure it will be quite the release.
And on to this Don Diablo track that has been sitting in my inbox for a few days. Hadn’t previously heard of the guy, but this funky little jingle is just about everything I need right now. ‘Cause he’s got what I need, ya dig? He’s got what I want. Nice little jammy, bouncy vibe going on here. Ravetastic. He’s been blowing up Holland from what I’ve been hearing. Keep an eye out for a release from Don D coming up here in the future.

I didn’t think it would happen so soon, but I was sure hoping for it; Danger is coming back for a North American tour, and from what his Myspace says- he’s got a new live performance for us too. Danger’s set last autumn rests somewhere in the very forefront of everything I saw the whole year, when he burned The Abbey Pub to the ground for the first time. Now I guess he’s back for round two.
An audio-visual spectacle of it’s own, it’s certainly a site worth seeing and something that I am guaranteed not to miss. Signed by Ekler’o'Shock, the releases and remixes are all gold- though I’m still waiting on the Empire of the Sun rework that hasn’t surfaced anywhere yet. Add that to the fact that he does visuals along with audio simultaneously makes him one of the more intriguing and prolific talents out there today. Keep an eye out for his next EP coming out shortly, and let’s keep our fingers crossed for a late addition to the Sahara Tent!

Falling back into memories of Lollapalooza, gazing in wonder at Radiohead and all of their onstage brilliance, why not couple that with one of the best live DJ sets that I saw all year? The Twelves know how to kill a show. Does anyone have the Eleanor Rigby remix I heard them drop when they came through Chicago? It wasn’t the Soulwax one.. Mad props to whoever can help me with that one. BTW, The Twelves should be coming back soon. Big ups to Too Many Sebastians, welcome to the block!
Radiohead – Reckoner (The Twelves Remix)
For a little bonus, why not throw down the Groove Armada remix that The Twelves did? I was pretty stoked to see Groove Armada on the Coachella lineup this year, though it will only be a DJ set. I have yet to see them perform, and from the hype that there is surrounding their group, my expectations are high. Keep an eye out for the new album coming from Groove Armada. Oh, and check out this Van She Tech remix as well. What a great combo for a release…

Old but gold, and relatively unknown as far as I’ve been told, this one is a remix of Headman‘s “On & On” by Riot in Belgium. It’s not the full version because it’s from Thee Bang Gang‘s Lights Sound Dance teaser, but it’s still definitely worth the listen. Much like everything that they touch..
Headman – On & On (Riot In Belgium Remix)
Popof is in a world of his own when it comes to production. Here is a remix of the long-awaited (at least on my part) track “Serenity” that you can still listen to on his myspace. The remix is done by Noob. The second track I’ll post is a remix that Popof did for Moby, and his release “I Like to Move in Here”. Great stuff.

Everything that Lifelike touches turns to italo-disco gold, only furthering the disappointment I am constantly faced with every time he comes to the US and decides not to come to Chicago. Oh well, someday I suppose. Here’s a remix of Sebastien Leger‘s “Victory” that I have been getting down to lately. What a great track.
