Momentary 1, by Greg Gossel
Hey- It’s Agnoek again. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything and when I finally was mentally prepared to flood the blogosphere with some ace tracks, the site went down. For a moment I thought I had done something terrible to the settings of redthreat and deleted all of it. Luckily we are back and running.
In the meanwhile I emailed Liam Vizzle to request some of the bootlegs he had made. Together with Paul Farrington, he runs the Venga Digital label. After EP’s by Deviant Soundsystem, Rustler, Spangled Ballet and Ryan Riback, next up is Liam Vizzle’s own song “That Banana”, which has a fabulous Beatles sample. But first is his remix of Simian vs Justice “We Are Your Friends” which he managed to revive so that you can still play it out loud in 2008 without looking like a silly twat. Makes me wonder how long this song will survive as party anthem. Another party anthem that he has given just as a little extra is Krames re-edit of KRS One’ classic “Sound of Da Police.” Same recipe, cut up vocals, awesome wobbly bassline, some flangers, and I’m sold.

KRS One – Sound of Da Police (Krames Edit + Liam Vizzle’s Re-edit)
Another bootleg I’ve been enjoying is Hatchmatik take on Fake Blood’s Mars. Allthough I am usually a huge fan of everything DJ Touche lays his hands on, In this case I prefer Hatchmatik’s edit. I don’t know how many times he has sampled the words Mars but it never gets boring, he gives the chainsaw bass a nice place and adds a marvelous breakdown.

It’s been a long time since we’ve last blogged anything about The Videoband, which is a shame cause awesome remixes keep popping up at their player on myspace. The last I mentioned them was in April, on my post “A Charm”, where I featured their Robyn remix along with their own track “Comput3r”.
SamSparro – Black & Gold (The Videoband Remix)
Norman Cook’s label Southern Fried Records is the home to a number of my favorite artists including The Whip. A more notable remix of their is of Rochelle, an electropop outfit. It has a nice tension between the distorting sounds of The Whip and the sweet electronic naivety of Rochelle.
