I have wanted to feature a brief Potty Mouth Music post for a while now. Being the foremost dance label in Chicago, Potty Mouth is trailblazing our city into the 21st century with the pounding fidget house that has been turning heads the world over. Seeing that we invented this shit in the first place, it’s only necessary to go and bring it all back once again. Headed up by James Amato [buy], Midwestern house champion, there’s much to look forward to along with a lot of stuff that is well worth taking the time to check out right now. I was waiting for the right time to drop it on you and I think I’ve found it.

James Amato – Live In Kansas City September 2008

btw- Amato will be playing in San Fran on Saturday, October 5th, with Drop The Lime & Spank Rock’s Devlin & Darko at Supperclub. Here’s the flyer, you should go if you’re in the area!

Santiago and Bushido [buy] are two local Chicago DJs that have recieved international recognition within the past few years. In January alone, Chris Santiago and Tim Bush were Beatport’s number one selling spot, and have dropped numerous EP’s and remixes on some of the most well respected labels around including Potty Mouth, Om, and Ultra. Operating with a Smartbar residency, Chicagoans can see their sets on nearly a monthly basis, my favorite of which being their opening to the Crookers. What an awesome night. Both come from a straightfoward house background, nowadays weighted down with a gutter-funk all their own. So far on Potty Mouth, they have their Zombie Door EP, For What EP, Sick Like That EP, Keystone Kappers EP and the most recent one with DJ Fame mentioned above. As far as things to be excited about go, they’ve got a Larry Tee remix coming up that I am really looking forward to hearing.

Santiago & Bushido VS DJ Fame – For The People (HiJack Remix Promo)

New York’s DJ Fame has been doing his thing for close to 12 years, bringing his energetic and intuitive blend of electro and tech house to the Potty Mouth roster. On Potty Mouth, Fame’s first EP was the Ghetto Dayz EP featuring the tracks “Anutha Day In The Ghetto” with a Bulgarian remix, and the For The People EP [buy] which he released with Santiago & Bushido, featuring a nasty little HiJack remix I posted a sample of below. As far as some of his other work goes, Fame was the first American artist to release anything on Dubsided, Switch’s label, and in ‘06 Fame began working closely with Gaby Dershin on a project called Bit Crushers that has gained him praise.

Andy Samin and Jelle Keizer come together to form Mightyfools. Samin’s straighforward house background mixes interestingly with Keizer’s more techy roots, blending both spheres together in a seamless interweave. Look out for Who Da Fool [buy], their first EP including a remix of Electric Soulside available on Potty Mouth. Also keep your ears open for a remix they are working on for Chris James & Lee Darens EP, also available on Potty Mouth that is expected to be dropped by the end of the year. In their own words, “Potty Mouth brings the sound we make and play—the new house generation style, the future,” Keizer says of their newest label affiliation. “We bring our own chopped and jacked up style to everything we get our hands on.” Only every so often to you see a series of bangers woven together so tightly. ‘Leanin’ and Swervin’” is doing wonders for me right now.

Sydney’s Adam Bozzetto’s music career has him doubling as a classically trained music producer, music tutor, fashion icon, and resident at Flux at Lady Lux, Wham at World Bar and at Fringe Bar. It’s safe to say the guy has his work cut out for him. Embracing the house earlier in his career with Hook ‘n Sling, his sound has been lent to the tracks of BassKleph and Anthony Paul for Vacation Records, and now, his first release on Potty Mouth Music is the Disco EP [buy], featuring two tracks; “Disco” and “I Can’t Go”, also including a Scott Cooper remix.Adam Bozzetto – Disco (Promo)

And while one the subject of Scott Cooper, let me introduce you to Andy George and Scott Cooper [buy], and their collabrative EP, Scott and George. Another interesting collaboration, It’s cool to see these two come together in this form. Cooper is a UK club favorite for years, and Andy George, while rather young, has made a huge name for himself in the UK house world, even doing his own show on Radio1 with Jakz. Along with the EP samples, I’m glad to be able to drop this July mixtape on you guys. Well worth the listen. Both George & Cooper are of Moda esteem, and both have previous releases out on Wearhouse Records. For another taste, check out George’s latest Lord Skywave remix on his myspace page, and prep yourself for his forthcoming “Natty Jack EP,” on Wearhouse, which includes remixes by Potty Mouth Music artists HiJack and Heavy Feet. Cooper is busy working on an EP with Edu K, featuring a sick remix by Trevor Loveys.
