Straight fire from Verdis‘ direction last week in my mailbox, burning right through the email onto my desktop. I’m not the biggest Lil Wayne fan, but when you have remixes like this, there isn’t much that you can complain about. Verdis is 20 year old Darren Hanson out of the West Coast, who has only been producing electronic music for about 2 months or so. So little to post, but so much to come, stay tuned for a few singles some other remixes (including a Ratatat one that I am looking forward to coming July 8th) and a mixtape that I’m sure will rock faces.
Lil Wayne – Lollipop (Verdis Remix)
Speaking of Ratatat, let’s toss up the latest MMMatthias remixes that has been all over the blogs lately. 3 capital M’s, 2 lower-case t’s- to all of you in confusion searching your iTunes over- he’s from Germany and has covered the likes of Ratatat, Coldplay and MGMT- a few small bands that might have heard of a few times… In a world where the tendency of remix artists is to consistently add intensity, MMMatthias slows it down a little for us. Some of his tracks remind me a bit of what you could expect from The Field; a slower, more easy going version of the original. My favorite is still the MGMT version- I’m surprised more people haven’t taken any cues from the wonderful piece.
Coldplay – Death And All His Friends (MMMatthias Remix)
Santogold – My Superman (MMMatthias Remix)
MGMT – The Youth (MMMatthias Remix)

I’m a little late to the punch on it, but if you haven’t heard the Estelle & Kanye remix by LAZRtag, you need to get your priorities straight. The Tenzin one is also worth checking out, for sure, but that’s not the entire point to this mention. The “American Boy” remix is what led me to “Detonate”, by LAZRtag- it is doing everything for me right now. It’s been literally on repeat here for the last day or two, and I know for a fact that Beats feels the same way over at Hot Biscuits. Maybe it is another generic guitar riff electro track, but those vocal samples paired over it literally make my head detonate.

Back to Lismore for a moment. You might remember me talking about them a little bit ago, and how they skipped Chicago on their trip back east from their west coast tour with AC Slater. Good thing is that they are looking to play here, we just need to find the spot and that can very well be a possiblity. Check out this ‘Pumpkins cover I found the other day. Pretty rad- and for real check out the Paradis tracks that I posted a little big ago, in case you missed them. They’re still up and I can’t get enough of them.
Lismore – 1979 (Smashing Pumpkins Cover)

Let’s hear some Mylo already. I haven’t posted anything of his for a long time now, and there’s been an Etienne De Crecy track out for a little that has been rumbling in the background of my apartment for a week or two now. Switch it up for a second afterwards and check out “Otto’s Journey”. Mylo is the sickest.
Mylo – Paris Four Hundred (Etienne De Crecy Remix)
Nite Cells tossed me another track of theirs as well, entitled “Try It Feel It”. Try and not feel it, son. Another sweat drenched floor killer here, hard enough to make you want to tear your hair out listening to it. In a good way. If you haven’t heard them before, check my earlier post that mentions them and their Kills “URA Fever” remix that stomps equally as hard. On another note, I love their email to me- “If you like it, post it. If you don’t, we don’t want to hear about it.” Haha. That’s awesome. While we’re at it let’s also put up their Victorian English Gentlemen remix as well. I don’t see why not, really- Another ace track with hella attitude.
The Victorian English Gentlemen – La Mer (Nite Cells Remix)

Another French electro outfit from the direction of Valerie, French label and excellent electro blog, are Minitel Rose. If you’ve been digging the Anoraak stuff even close to as much as I’ve been, you might want to pay special attention here.. They’re composed of Raphael, Quentin, and Romain, and are another group reflecting on the influences of the 1980’s. If you can’t tell that by listening, you need to get your head checked- or you’re just too young to know any better. All in all, they offer up more classic yet trailblazing music for us to get lost to. Here are some of the songs that I’ve been getting in to a lot recently.
West Coast Valerie – Official Theme Of Valerie (Minitel Rose Remix)
Pink Floyd – Another Brick (Minitel Rose Remix)
And while we’re at it, why not throw in their labelmate Anoraak’s latest remix by the likes of Grum. It doesn’t get much better than this right here.
Anoraak – Nightdrive With You (Grums New Wave Remix)
Wow. You probably haven’t heard of it. I hadn’t- until I stumbled upon a blog called Hupendi Muziki (”Happy Music?” I don’t know..) Well, here’s a song I thought was pretty cool. There’s no real drop to it, but it sure has an edge. And I can’t find the myspace to Fuzzz (any help please?)… I’m gonna stop sounding lame. Just check it out.
