Last Thursday, Flufftronix was in town spinning over at Debonair for their esteemed Fly By Night parties that they throw, and in the midst of his set was this little gem that I’ve never gotten around to posting. It’s the “NY Excuse” classic by Soulwax, reworked with the “Funky Town” beat behind it and labeled the “Kawazaki Dub”. A pretty sick little crowd pleaser we have here. On another note.. we have us the Chicago icon turned international DJ superstar, Felix Da Housecat tonight at the same venue. It should be a damn good time. To get myself all psyched for it, I’m gonna play the Shinichi “Radio” remix over and over again until 10PM. If you haven’t heard that track by now, take a listen and you’ll probably do the same.

Vance Musgrove and Mikah Freeman come together to form Aston Shuffle, a group out of Canberra, Australia that recently finished mixing together one of the disks for the “Mashed” Ministry of Sound album with Kissy Sell Out, now finding time to tour alongside Kissy as well. Originally gaining some attention after the success of their Claude VonStroke remix of “The Whistler” midway through last year, it’s the Pnau remix that caught my ear a week or so ago. With their well rounded, hard hitting basslines and tendency to produce tunes that could incite a party at an AA meeting, they’re definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Instead of just tossing another Aston Shuffle remix, I thought it appropriate to shed a little light on another artist worth taking a look at. Malente is a German producer/remix artist/DJ that has dropped four albums along with a whole mess load of remixes that have been featured all over the blogosphere. He may describe his style best on his myspace page; “When Malente is playing one of his outstanding DJ-sets, PARTY is to be expected and no puristic bullshit.”

Another track that has resurfaced on my playlist is Ocelot’s remix of “Every Second Counts” by Switches. The vocal edits on it are priceless, accompanied by a steady beat that rolls through the track and walks a tightrope a fine as floss. While I’m at it, this gives me an opportunity to drop a Sirhan track on you. You have probably seen him around here in Chicago, at parties, online at IHeartComix, other places. He makes some sick music and is going to be throwing some parties here this summer that will definitely be worth attending. I’ll do a further post on his work here in a bit, but for now, check the “Lo Sforzo” remix that he threw together.
