It seems about time for the summer anthems to drop. Only adding to the credibility of Modular Records, The Presets have officially launched their new album, Apolalypso, along with the start of what will surely be a tidal wave of amazing remixes kicked off by the likes of KIM, Lifelike, Zombie Nation and Jori Hulkkonen. This is their latest full length release, following up the success of their debut, Beam, and carries with it the same electro pop demeanor, commanding vocals and dreamy synth patterns that made them so popular to begin with. “Kicking and Screaming” is a gem that I expect to surface more and more as time goes by, while inevitably, the songs that are already steadily moving will pick up more and more steam as these guys sweep through our country. Embarking on what will surely be one of the best tours of our North American summer as well, The Presets will kickoff in Los Angeles a the El Rey and making their way steadily across the continent before their last stops in Brooklyn, Philly and finally DC. Chicago’s date is set for May 30th at the Abbey Pub- I’d Buy Tickets ASAP.
Along with the Presets comes Chicago’s own Walter Meego, Comasoft and Jordan Z, giving me a great segue to drop a new Walter Meego track and give mention to their new album, Voyager, which is packed full of the glittery synth-rock that made me fall in love with the group to begin with. There’s no doubts as to why they’ve graduated the Chicago scene to a more international platform, touring with the likes of perhaps the largest act of the year. Enjoy the single, “Girls”, and take a listen to a previously released remix of one of the feature tracks off of the new album that I gave massive play a few months ago.

Comment by mixdigger May 24, 2008 @ 5:20 amWas in the USA and had tickets to see The Presets for their gig at The Music Hall of Williamsburg.
Also had the pleasure of being next to Julian Hamilton ’s brother upstairs.(heard the Aussie accent)
The Presets were fantastic(even though they did’nt
play my fave song “if i know you”).
But the suprise on the night was Walter Meego.
I was in line getting anal probed by security (rude pricks),when suddenly my ears grabbed the chorus verse to “Lost”.

I am their biggest new fan from Australia.
