D.I.M. is going to be in town on Thursday, May 8th, at Smartbar with Thomas Von Party & Matt Walsh. That’s day after tomorrow for all of you that are counting down the days with me. D.I.M. consistently pushes the envelope for making crowd killing electro tunes that are as cutting edge as they are completely and totally unforgiving. I’m expecting to be attacked from every auditory angle on this one, similar to his labelmate, Alex Ridha (aka Boys Noize of Boys Noize Records) several months back on the same stage. This guy’s not making too many detours along his way through this fine country before he heads back to Germany, so I’d suggest you spend your time wisely considering how many events there are that evening.

Jape - Floating (D.I.M. Remix)

To only complicate things further, The Black Ghosts are scheduled to grace our fine city on Thursday, May 8th, as well- at the Hideout along with Thunderheist, Lazer Crystal, Willy Joy & Capcom. Shortly after releasing the I Want Nothing EP, I’m now officially anxious for the debut full length to drop. The single track of “I Want Nothing” falls in line with the rest of their anthemic, synth heavy, dream-bangers, and once again leaves me with the question: are there a better set of vocal cords on anybody creating music these days?? Big ups to Check the Availability for the Phones remix. The Whip’s version of “Any Way You Choose To Give It” is right off of my year-end best of list for ‘07, and god damn right it’s still one of the hardest hitting, most skull crushing electro definitions that I’ve come across since starting this little blog.

Whilst on the subject of Phones, or Paul Epworth to be exact- the man who is still one of my favorite producers after that legendary Futureheads “Hounds of Love” teardown that was executed so well- why not post a few tracks that he has graced with remixes since we last did a little mention of him? This Jape track found it’s way to Discodust a few weeks ago, the rest of them have been haphazardly littered throughout the blogosphere for a little while now, only now to be concentrated on by yours truly. The Peter, Bjork & John track is pretty old, too. But what remains so remarkable about Phones is that his track selection may come in second only to his artistic vision for each one of the tracks that he actually selects. Truly a winning combination, and a sign of a great artist.. look to the New Order remix for a stunning example. Very powerful.

New Order - Krafty (Phones Reality Remix)

Turboweekend has been lighting up my ipod like a Christmas tree. A three piece group from Denmark, their debut album “Night Shifts” received many praises from the likes of blogs such as mine. Since then, they’ve found a few comfortable spots in the Palms Out Sunday Remix weekly, set up a shows with their buddy James Braun, and got booked for their local SPOT festival in Aarhus. With the glaring falsetto and killer synths present in tracks like “My Name is Legion” there’s a lot to fall in love with and plenty of reason to keep an eye on them.. I think we got around to posting a few of their tracks somewhere around October. Here are a few new and old songs to check out if you missed it. “You’re not a model but you know how to taaake a stand!“

Turboweekend - Just To Get Down
Turboweekend - Not A DJ (DJ Weekends Hey You DJ Remix)
“We got something old, and something new for your tonight. Put your hands together for Snoop Doggy Dogg, the dog pound, and the fabulous dramatics!” Here’s a song that I heard the other day that I had to throw up here. One of my favorites from the doggfather’s debut. I remember hiding that album from my parents. Ha.

Nice tunes as usual, but I’m pretty sure at least that top image isn’t a Banksy, but a collaboration between Fark FK and SNUB. The reclining hoodie next to the cars definitely is (Banksy) though.
