Neon Genesis: quite possibly the best cartoon ever, addressing human isolation and interconnection alongside a religiously oriented apocalypse so beautifully. It’s a really powerful work. First let me point out a new addition to the site: right on the left hand side there’s now a “Post Music” button that you can follow if you want to throw up some of your music or events. It’s all about you, and I’d love the interaction/discussion… I plan on adding a “Chicago Icons” tab as well, featuring links to artists/venues/promoters that will help navigate this crazy city. Stay tuned.

Now on to the music. More Neon Coyote on the way here, this time a clever little edit of the Radioclit remix of Bonde Do Role’s “Gasolina” as well as a Sid & Nancy/Symbol One/MIA cut- gotta love it. Their vocal work continuously bangs, balanced and forthright, these guys are so tight. Wanna hear what they pound like live? Check out the Cakeshop Disco mixtape. Versatile. I could probably do without the PDiddy (I’m just a hater. lol)- but God! That Kelis remix is hot. And just wait until I get the greenlight to post some of Chico Love’s gangster mixes, he’s another Epic Banger that chills with the ‘Coyote. I’m sitting on a tape that’s burning a hole through my jeans. Patience is a virtue I suppose.

True enough to my word, I was able to score another Redial track. I gave the Sydney group an intro last week, and here is a follow up track called “Close Them”, and close them it does. Very much an anthem-electro tune, it starts out with a Twilight Zone feel and progresses into a full-on fist pumping onslaught.I’m sure it resonates twice as well live as it does on your headphones. I’ll be looking forward to hearing more of their stuff.

A little bit late to the topic, I’ve been banging out Stereoheroes in my car ritually. What else is a loud stereo system for, eh? “Fing Fang Foom” reminds me of the SebastiAn “Motor” track that winds up and up and up and up. It’s like muscles contracting until they snap in half. Or an engine pushing and pushing until it finally explodes. Anyone ever seen “Neon Genesis“- right at the ending when everyone is blowing up.. (not gonna ruin the ending)? It’s like that. Someone reading this has seen it. No doubt. Screw it, I’m featuring all that artwork today.

After checking out You Can Call Me Peslki, another great blog that kicked off at the start of the year (though he’s on a hiatus for a little bit as of now), I found an overlooked Klaxons remix that took me for a ride. The track has been around for over a year and a half, but for some reason was posted on relatively few music blogs despite being a great take on the Klaxons staple. And for some icing, here’s another Crookers track that I found at Pelski as well. Killer bounce, wicked drum rolls.. A pocket ace for any DJ trying to get a crowd movin’.

This one isn’t a Neon Genesis pic, it’s a Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya image. Not quite sure what that is, but the pic is pretty sweet. So whateva.

I thought that I was done posting the Yelle “Ce Jeu” remixes, but they just keep popping up on my radar and I can’t quite shake my adoration for the original, so here we are: “Ce Jeu” straight merked by The Videoband. I’m not sure how you spell ‘merk’, but in Chicago, my buddies say that in place of kill, as in “my landlord is such an asshole, someday he’s gonna come over and I’m gonna straight merk him and throw his body in the dumpster.” This aches of a Sesame Street episode (btw it’s Mr. Rogers’ 80th BDay) but the term was new to me when I moved back here and I thought I would share it with you.. Anyways, The Videoband is an outift out of Rotterdam that I stumbled upon after my last Kills remix post by NiteCells over at Tuftsmania (always always great music). They have a few killer (and i mean fucking killer) remixes that are worth taking a look at, and they’re one of the few groups that rock so hard and yet have little attention thus far. I’m sure that will change very rapidly. I’ll try to get more of their stuff, but for now this is what I have to offer you.
