And here is a ridiculously nasty remix of The Kills‘ “Cheap and Cheerful” courtesy of non other than Nite Cells. I guess the feedback from their previous Kills remix, “URA Fever,” was fair enough to demand another. Well that’s alright with me, because in my mind there’s nothing better than a breakneck, take-no-prisoners electro track. I’ll take two, as Nibbons would say.

Time for some Plimsouls. The Get Cape Wear Cape Fly remix is everything I need on a beautiful and sunny day here in Chicago. Glitchy, bouncy and full of a rejuvenating carelessness, the strings section that comes forth at the end of the song is a great touch. On to “Contact” for a second, here’s another example of Plimsouls’ unique production techniques, helping lend the artist more intrigue than I’d be generous enough to give most artists producing right now.

This may be an unusual post, but I thought I’d throw it out there: today I was sent a link to an interview with Trent Reznor, of Nine Inch Nails. He recently released a 36 track instrumental album called “Ghosts” that he said would not have been possible within the confines of a record label. Good for him. I’ve always had tremendous respect for his work. “Pretty Hate Machine” is still up there for all time greatest albums ever produced. It’s hard to knock Reznor’s ambition, vision and talent. But as it stands, I’m kind of afraid of Trent Reznor. Gnarls Barkley already tried to kill me this year (probably because I hated on their new shit), so I’m just gonna throw this link at you if you wanna take a listen to the album.

Back to some Ed Banger records for a minute. DSL released a new EP appropriately titled “Invaders” featuring their original “Invaders” tracks alongside remixes by Busy P, Djedjotronic and Zoukatronic (link?). Pretty hot stuff there. You can purchase the EP at Bleep if you wanna get yourself a copy of it. And there will be a long-awaited EP by our most pious of Ed Bangers, Justice, ready for you to gush all over as soon as it hits the shelves. For now, we have the Surkin edit of the classic, but coming up you can expect versions by LA Riots, Todd Edwards and Les Petits Pilous as well as an exclusive Justice edit. And here’s the new music video in case you missed it on every other blog in the planet.

My mailbox blew up this week with Redial, from Sydney. Funny it wasn’t my cell phone, right? The Daft Punk “One More Time” remix was the lure, for sure. The “45 Overdrive” was the payoff. The “One More Time” effort is a nice touch to the timeless classic. My favorite part of it is the drop after the first minute and a half. It really works for me. I’m really liking what I’m hearing on their myspace as well. I’ll try to get some more of their tunes to throw at you guys soon. I wish I could be down there for the Gameboy/Gamegirl EP launch that’s kicking of on April 11th. That oughtta be a rocking good time.

To close this one out with some class I’ll bring in Anoraak. More pop oriented, 80’s inspired dance music that I’d usually associate with an artist like Deadmau5, I’ve been really pulled towards his work for some time now. After his discovery upon the College remix a couple months back, I’ve always been excited when I come across some of his new (or old) material. He seems to be picking up some popularity as of late, I hope that his yields some more of his music. Check out this remix of The Outrunners.
