I knew that it would happen at some point, but I didn’t figure that it would be at Vision. I guess the largest nightclub in the city is probably the best venue for one of the largest up-and-coming acts in the world. MSTRKRFT is set to land tomorrow with LA Riots, The Bloody Beetroots & Lazaro Casanova and Dark Wave Disco! I’m so excited that I can’t even really phrase it without the aid of explicit hand gestures and random limb-spasms. This is going to be huge.
The last I saw MSTRKRFT was at Coachella, where they decimated a massive crowd in the dance tent. Before that, it was back in Scottsdale where they opened for John Digiweed (blowing him out of the water) at Axis/Radius for the Diamonds ‘07 Tour. Lazaro Casanova was a nice surprise to see on the lineup. Also, consistently one of the best acts from way out west, LA Riots are known for stellar remix work and amazing live performances. They’ll be there too. You may have seen them last at Smartbar with Treasure Fingers a few months ago. As far as the ‘Beetroots go, there’d better be someone ready to stuff a wallet in my mouth when they land on the decks- ’cause I’m gonna freak out. Go buy a ticket. You really really don’t want to miss this. (big ups to Brrrln for the Gopher)..
The Crystal Method – Keep Hope Alive (MSTRKRFT Remix)
Justice – D.A.N.C.E. (MSTRKRFT Remix)
Martin Solvieg – Cest La Vie (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)
Alex Gopher – The Game (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)
The Knife – You Make Me Like Charity (Lazaro Casanova Tax)
LA Riots – Kill Bill

Comment by m March 9, 2008 @ 1:33 amholy hell… that was my first time seeing mstrkrft live… and they blew my half sober mind away. i was worried when i first got to vision, thinking there weren’t gonna let anyone else in… but we got in with our RSVP tix, and proceeded to rock out with evertyhing that LA Riots and MSTRKRFT gave us.
most impressed with keeping in costume for well over an hour of their set. props and props.
Comment by dasMetzger March 9, 2008 @ 4:11 amthat’s impressive. the costumes i mean. they didn’t have any in brooklyn.. probably because it was 90º with 150% humidity inside. drip.
Comment by m March 9, 2008 @ 12:50 pmthat was an amazing night, through and through. great venue for the kind of energy that all those guys brought. i was really excited to see the beetroots, they lived up to their hype for sure. mstrkrft, as expected, decimated that audience and played a really long set. too bad about daylight savings time, because we lost an hour of the night, but all’s well. la riots killed at the end, too. what a great night.
Comment by nicko March 9, 2008 @ 2:04 pmBloody Beetroots stole the show. What was up with the hurricane force compressed air blast during their set? Stupid fucking Vision.
Comment by Mello March 9, 2008 @ 6:04 pmhaha, it was getting hot though. at least that cooled it down a little. i got tired of the people throwing five dollar bottled water all over eachother in the front. what a bunch of artards.
Comment by nicko March 9, 2008 @ 8:41 pmvision… what an… intersting club. albiet it was very cool in it’s design and had really good acustics, and i personally reveled in the pressurized water vapor blasts, but the crowd it drew was very disappointing in a way! when my crew and i first arrived, it was a blast! the bloody beetroots just came on and everyone was havin’ some insane groovin’ fun.
however, after a while, yeah, it was a buzz kill (if i had had a buzz!) with the jerks throwing water all aroud that soaked me and my friends. i found this totally lame and not cool, and i hate to say it, but it totally affected my experience there!!
otherwise, it was totally badass, and MSTRKRFT blew my mind! i loved their Kid Sister “Control” remix! it was awesome!! props to bloody beetroots too, they were terriffic!! i’d do it all over again, but i’d stay off the floor!!
Comment by jesi March 10, 2008 @ 3:16 pmWhen MSTRKRFT played at Coachella it was amazing! You don’t here too many DJs bust out the classic “Rollin’ & Scracthin.” I can’t wait to see them and Z-Trip at SXSW. How long was their set?
Comment by tssmithaz March 13, 2008 @ 1:51 pmThis blog is the only place that is giving that show good reviews, the people on going.com are talking maaaaad isht.

Comment by stan March 15, 2008 @ 6:15 pmit’s probably because the openers are so fresh and awesome, people just can’t help but be single-minded about it. kind of like, “yelle is the new justice.” because, you know, they’re in the exact same realm and are interchangeable. whatever happened to just having fun with what you like? (even though certain popsters should die.. /elitist)
