Get Warm Already

Here’s a shot of Ellena that I did some work on. I was thinking of posting this, though. It’s Donald Duck’s family tree. Someone has way too much time on their hands, but honestly, I could probably spend the rest of the day googling every one of those feathered wackjobs. Also, who’s going to Gogol Bordello tonight with me? HA! I’m expecting pure gold there. See ya tonight.

I thought that a little Curtis Vodka was necessary today. The Alaskin native hit my playlist on a heavy rotation a lot within the last year, especially with the “Drink & My 2 Step” remix that always hits the spot. He has knack for making me like songs i’m normally rather indifferent to, the best example I can think of would be the “Shoulder Lean” remix.. I can bang that all night long. Oh, and give the Uffie track a chance past the first 2 & 1/2 minutes, it totally transforms on ya.

Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye (Curtis Vodka Remix)

Uffie - Pop The Glock (Curtis Vodka Remix)

Young Dro - Shoulder Lean (Curtis Vodka Remix)

Continuing on the tangent I just left off on, I’ll throw a Timbo track that was remixed to my liking. Much like the Bloody Beetroots remixes (@ Vision this weekend with MSTRKRFT!!!!!!!!!!HOLYHELLIMEXCITED) that blew up last year, here’s a refreshing take on a song that has had the life stomped out of it in every club and on every radio station across the United States. What do you expect with Sta, though? Shit’s hot- even the old school breaks they tampered with back in the day. Glad to see the direction that Sta’s been going in. On their myspace, for the “sounds like” slot, they put “androids on ecstasy.. All I can think of is the Star Trek character (Data??) erupting in a glowstick fury. Lol. Oh, and some D.I.M.?? Yes, please (wait for the breakdown…yep, there it is.) Big ups to WavesAtNight.

Timbaland - Give It To Me (STA Remix)

STA - In Living Colour (D.I.M. Remix)

On a more experimental tip, we have two artist out of Finland. KA SO RE is a one-man gig that makes gloomy electronic tunes that push genre barriers, is known for throwing gigs, hosting a radio show, and collaborating with the MC Tommishock. Eero Johannes creates a funk-infused electronica, heavily influenced by his background as a drummer and is signed to Planet Mu. “We Could Be Sweeeroes” has such a tokyo glitz to it that I can’t stop nodding to.

Eero Johannes - We Could Be Skweeeroes

Ka So Re - Greetings

Ka So Re - Dramatically Keeps You

Aside from Planet Mu, Boys Noize Records always drop the quirkiet shit out there. The Siriusmo track “Wow” has been bumping over here for a while now, kind of reminiscent of the Flat Eric piece the Mr. Oizo did a long while back. Bouncy, with traces of hip hop from the days where humor had a part in the genre. Oh, and here’s a little SMD and Riot In Belgium remix that you might not have heard yet- a little reminder to my Chicago neighbors of the shows coming up here in a little bit. Yeah. Here’s what I’m talking about.

SMD - It’s The Beat (Siriusmo Remix)

Riot In Belgium - The Acid Never Lies (Boys Noize Remix)
