For A Second

Hey, it’s Agnoek again. Here are a couple of tunes that I’ve been listening to recently. First, what kind of post would this be without a bit of Toxic Avenger? Here is the Lies in Disguise remix of Poker Face.

The Toxic Avenger – Poker Face (Lies in Disguise Remix)

Infadels are a postfunk band that rose to prominence in 2005, along side bands such as LCD Soundsystem and Tiefschwartz, with singles like Jagger 67, Love Like Semtex and Can’t Get Enough. They got back on my radar because they have remixed Felix Da Housecat’s new single Radio. Upon further investigation I discovered that the Infadels have re-released their single Can’t Get Enough wit remixes by Tepr, Kris Menace and Felix da Housecat.
They will release their sophomore album ‘Universe In Reverse’ will be released somewhere in March, along with their new single ‘Make Mistakes’.

I haven’t heard of Wolf and Cub much since 2005, when the Phoner Slasher Remix of Thousand Cuts was released so I was pretty surprised to see that they made a remix of the song Get What You Want by fellow Australians Operator Please. Get What You Want has a darker atmosphere than songs like Leave It Alone and For My Two Seconds. Minotaur Shock only rings a bell as the remixer of Bloc Party’s Tulips. Here is his remix of Wolf and Cub’s Target as well as a remix of Hard To Beat by Hard-fi.

David E. Sugar has remixed the other single ‘Leave it alone’ by Operator Please but has also put out two new songs, The Big H and Put Together, on Kitsune of his own. The ASBO Kid is a remix of the last song dating back to 2006, but which never got a proper release. A nice detail is that David uses a Gameboy as a sequencer for producing his music.

I like The Black Ghosts not only for their own songs, but also because they always let relatively unknown acts remix their singles. This way artists like Fake Blood, The Whip, The Teenagers, Boy 8-Bit, Kissy Sell Out and Charlie Fanclub were brought to my attention a while back. Here are a couple of their songs in case you haven’t heard of them yet.

The Whip – Trash (South Central Remix)

Hybrid – Higher Than A Skyscraper (Boy 8 Bit Remix)

Boy 8 Bit – Fogbank

Charlie Fanclub – Night Breed

Kissy Sell Out – Gonna Make You Mine (Kissy’s Ghetto Fabulous Remix)
