Time For Change

Full Size.

So, I went to The Jerry Springer Show yesterday. A staple to Chicago, it’s like a real live re-enactment of Roseanne, but without all of the family friendly moments, sexual ambiguity, savage beatings and even some clown-guy on stilts making balloon bow & arrows and shooting them into the crowd. It was a pretty thrilling experience, except there was a male stripper that kept mooning the audience. I could have done without that.

Calvin&Hobbes was the culmination of my childhood, here are some of my favorite strips involving snowmen. They were always the best. But hey! All you artists out there. Send me some of your work! I want more artwork to post. I don’t like putting up people’s stupid myspace pictures all the time. I know some of you are doing something cool on photoshop right now, and that you’re just going to let it rot in your parent folder. Hook a brother up.

And on to MSTRKRFT. This mix was released a little over a week ago and showcases the international superstars. With this mixtape, alongside the most recent JFK remixes, there’s plenty of reason to be excited for what these two have to offer us in the upcoming year.

MSTRKRFT - Triple J New Year Mixup

Let’s have us some Crookers & Bloody Beetroots right now. The mix has been floating around for a little bit, but still deserves it’s dues. The soundquality could have been a little better, but it kind of works well with the Italian electro-shred sound that they’ve harbored so well. The Bloody Beetroots strongly emphasize how Italy is rising to the forefront of dance music worldwide. It’s hard to argue considering how successful 2007 was for them. I guess the French just weren’t hardcore enough for ‘em.

Ahh, new mail from Calling in Sick today. Strange they didn’t call me, right? Well, they sure showed up today, and I’ll be the first to say that they are sick, indeed. Hailing from Australia, which I obviously have a strong preference towards lately, these cats are two good kids from Sydney- having a good time attempting to make good sound, and make good people dance good, as they put it. ‘Cali Games’ hits all the right notes for me, one of those dancefloor dreamworks that keeps these ears gushing. The ‘Patrick 122′ edit is a chopped and electro-fied rework of the classic, an impressive, lofty and ambitious project that has been rarely attempted and even more rarely well executed.

Mr. Oizo - Patrick 122 (Calling In Sick Mix)

Here’s another tight Buddy Akai remix we have have of ‘The Fine Line’ that was sent to me in response to the Villians remix I threw on here a few days ago. Shit’s hot. I’m looking forward to getting some more tunes from these guys within the next few weeks, so stay tuned. They’ll be all over California and Texas for the next few, so keep an eye on them in you’re in the area.

Danosaur!! sent me a banging mixtape yesterday that I just couldn’t sit on. He is another artist out of California that has impressed me lately and has a few other mixes on his page that are worth taking a look at. You can also find the tracklisting there, this mix is full of tracks that have been lighting up [redthreat] lately. Very nice.

Danosaur!! - It’s Raining Let’s Play

College is out of France, surprise. I’ve posted up the Russ Chimes remix before, but now I want to focus on the original, and even moreso on the Anoraak remix, of the track “Teenage Color”. They’ve had some spots on DiscoDust & KidzByColette prior to this post, and you can find them touring between Geneva and France in the upcoming weeks si vous parlez francais, mais je suis de chicago et je n’ai pas l’argent pour une vacance… (that’s about as far as my french goes…) Also, we in America don’t have a luxury of month long vacations called Holiday like all the rest of the world. So there we have it.

And to top this all off, I’ll throw in the David E. Sugar remix of Big Face’s “I Wanna Be A Style Crusader”. This one has a lot more of a disco feel to it, relaxed and chilled out compared to the datA mix, which are both featured on the same EP. The track has been growing on me the past few days. I imagine that there will be a lot more Big Face remixes to come in the next few weeks. Big thanks to Discoworkout for the track. Gracias… … Ugh, gotta toss one more track out there. I feel horrible about not putting The Field’s “From Here We Go Sublime” in my top albums post. Totally overlooked it in my electro-daze. So here’s a song that resurfaced of a minimalist take on Thom Yorke’s original. The Field’s stuff is so beautiful..

the patrick 122 ( calling in sick mix) sounds horrible on a big system, cool mix but should’ve been mastered better.
