It Happens.

It has recently come to my attention that I’ve made a few Australians very upset with me. I committed the unforgivable sin of not placing The Presets in my ‘best of ‘07′ posts. So in order to rectify this horrible crime against humanity here are a few tracks that I think deserve their recognition. The Presets are pretty rad, I’ve been banging their shit a lot recently. It’s too bad that there isn’t a North American tour forecasted in the next few months, but then again- it’s balls-cold here while it’s summertime down under, so I don’t really blame them.

The new direction of rock&dance music floating out of Australia is a patented and perfected craft. True to form, The Presets totally represent this shift, and I expect this year to be very successful for them. ‘My People’ has become an anthem- I heard it last night over at Debonair when Jordan Z threw it up, alongside countless other bleary eyed, drink slamming, fist pounding nightlife memories. Another more recent track, ‘Hung Up’ is composed of the “Down Down Down” track thrown together with Madonna’s “Hung Up”. It’s pretty tight. But if you want my two cents, the best track to come from their direction is the Midnight Juggernaut’s rehash of that same track that, and as to not be repetitive, I posted a little while back. Stellar. Absolutely Stellar. (Happy now?)

The Presets – My People

The Presets – Hung Down

The Presets – Are You The One (SMD Remix)

New album out soon (-ish inshallah) so shouldn’t be too long – My People absolutely killed at Never Ever Land as did their yet-unnamed-new-song-that-sounds-kinda-like-My-People-but-doesn’t – it is floating around youtube if you haven’t heard it yet

Interesting everyonie seems to run with the SMD remix, when the Van She Tech is the winner for me – more infectious handclaps, slightly faster pace and a real sense of urgency about it

I was there too, I think everyone was expecting My People so anything they played which was new to us was potentially something new and unexpected.

I loved it and can’t wait for their new album, presets to rule the world!!!

Red Threat was a recent discovery and I now read it and discover new tracks daily. Thanks for the effort you put into this brilliant website!

my people will be an anthem here in Australia

I’m slowly working on making it an anthem here in New Zealand – takes time though – we’re quite the cultural desert when it comes to electro

I first saw the lego picture, and thought you might not have realised it was a Presets picture, but just thought it was cool…

You watch the new ‘un-named’ track that I took from the Melbourne Daft Punk show here (on my blog), along with my musing of how alike it sounds to My People.

I’ve heard the track is called ‘Kicking & Screaming’ no confirmation on that as of yet tho.

Alright, just because I gotta be that guy, the Madonna remix is – while likely being by Diplo — is credited as ‘Madonna – Hanged Up (Mad Decent Remix)’ (http://www.discogs.com/release/751919)

id3 Holler!
