The cynics were wrong.
It’s been a great day on the internet. When people drop music on their myspace pages everybody wins. Except for the record labels. Hey, they had the nineties, right? Ha. Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya put out “The Anthem” today, and on top of that, my favorite midwest hip hop legends, Atmosphere, kicked out a full length for fans who have the blues during the holiday seasons.

Atmosphere - Strictly Leackage (Album)
I hadn’t heard the original until I’d heard the remix. Guilty enough. Though I pride myself on being one of the more enthusiastic Beatles fans, “Temporary Secretary” slipped past my radar until I listened to the DJ Cherry Cola mixtape I posted a few days ago. Who really keeps track of the solo work anyways (aside from Imagine)? I’m too young to know everything, it’s not like I’m prepping myself for Jeopardy! here. Regardless, I have found the remix I had been dying over- the Radio Slave edit. Confusing, yes. Awesome..? I think so. And to top that off, I’ll throw y’all a little curveball. I’m not sure where it’s been hiding, but here it is… another Justice remix.
Paul McCartney - Temporary Secretary (Radio Slave Re-Edit)
Justice - We Are Your Friends (Radio Slave & Spencer Parker Re-Edit)
One of my favorite things about Ocelot has to be the myspace slogan “All the fun of trance, without all of that trance.” Bingo. Here we have another Ocelot remix, another that I have found since his fruitful remix competition that produced such banging results. It’s by Kroenen, and as far as I know has yet to have found it’s way on any blog that I’ve been watching. Look at what a simple “please” & “thank you” will get you! And people say manners are a lost art! The song is great. The Robyn remix is another track that surfaced recently as well, and I didn’t even realize I had the Switch remix until a second ago.. Might as well throw that one right on in there too, eh?
Ocelot - Lo Sforzo (Kroenen Remix)
Switch - Every Second Counts (Ocelot Remix)
Robyn - Be Mine (Ocelot Mthrfckrs Remix)
Some new mail from the Villains came in today. It’s a remix they did for Buddy Akai that is consistent with the rest of their kickass remix work. Judging by my top-33 post, if it’s not obvious enough that I dig their stuff I’ll make it known right now: I dig their stuff. I think they’re the only group that got hitup twice on the list. Too lazy to double check right now. They’re tight, there we have it. I have a feeling this will be a big year for ‘em.
