I Am Ironman

So I was watching TV and I saw the trailer for Iron Man. It’s going to have (a sober) Robert Downey Jr. playing some scientist who invents himself a suit that makes Robocop look like sissy. He totally kicks everybody’s ass and definitely gets the girl. For sure. And he can fly with these jet packs built into his arms. Of course it’s nuclear powered. I want one. You’d never have to worry about parking, parking tickets, traffic, muggers, x-girlfriends, bad grades, terrible employment reviews or alcoholism. The suit would cure everything, and you could even sleep in it. I’d paint tiger stripes on mine, sorta like this guy.

My!gay!husband! rocks out in Vancouver to the tone of 1/2Alive, the crowd responsible for owning the Canadian west coast on a weekly basis. This is the type of DJ you want to see live, too. Check the mixtape out, it’s all over the map! If you’re out there, become a regular. Look at what they’ve lined up in the past.. that’s some sick flier art, too! Within the next two weeks, My!gay!husband will be heading out east in search of Chicago for a night. He’ll be over at Evil Olive with hometown hero Curt of Flossy-D. I’ll be there. You’ll be there. We’ll have an awesome time. It’ll be sweeet.

My!gay!husband! – Indie Rave Fall Edition (still uploading)

Let’s kick it back to Nirvana for a moment. Normally a sin- I can dig this track. I’ve been sitting on it so long that I can’t figure out who created it. But when searching, I found a cool track there on good ol’ myspace. It had to be useful for something, right? Anyone mixing up Arcade Fire and Damn Arms demands a listen. I imagine I’ll get a lot of indie readers for this drop- welcome friends! Here’s some music that you should be listening to instead. Haha. I’m just kidding. No really.

Nirvana – Heart Shaped Box (White Trash Kids On Crank Tronic Clash Mix)

Amnesty DJ’s – Arcade Fire vs Damn Arms

Been tripping out to this Autokratz stuff. I don’t want to wait another few weeks for the drop. They just had to make some end-of-year debachle about it all, didn’t they. I guess I’ll just wait. I’ll do a bigger post later.

Make Model – The Was (Autokratz Made To Scale Mix)

Autokratz – It’s On

Hell, if that many blog-stars are doing backflips over Burial, then the hype must be true, right? So picking up the slack from dragging my heels for so long, I’m going to look into the Burial sophomore release. What used to bore me about d&b and dubstep vanished at the first listen. Blurring the lines between dubstep, down-tempo & idm we easily have one of the more ominous and enigmatic albums put forth in 2007. There’s no room for partying here. No fist pounding, screaming and dancing live performance. Hell, Burial doesn’t even do live shows. Period. We’ll see how long that stay true.

Burial – Ghost Hardware

Burial – Archangel

Here’s a challenge: Listen to this song on your headphones and try not to max it out. Klever is at it again. You may remember his show with Tittsworth over in Boy’s Town last weekend if you’re a local reader. There’s no hip hop in this one, just dirty, grimy, sweaty electo rhythms. Slowed down, concentrated with hints of disco glitter throughout.

Klever – The Stud

It looks as if the Ocelot remix challenge went smoothly, and the track that won is great. Short but sweet; a staggering think-piece intro, a slow paced thud of the kicksnare and robotic vocal clips, it is so reminiscent of a Daft Punk wind-down. That’s no blanket-statement, either. Very few producers can achieve what Night Facilities did here. It’s beautiful. Alongside the post, I’ll put up a submission from one of the runners-up, Loud Pipes, that I think deserves mention, too. Tell me what you think. I think the one minute marker slams. Check the Availablility is convinced of another winner as well, posting up the St. Andrew remix. I love this stuff.

Ocelot – Lo Sforzo (Night Facilities Remix)

Ocelot – Lo Sforzo (Loud Pipes Remix)

Ocelot – Lo Sforzo (St. Andrew Recalculation)

Ocelot – I Heart Daft Punk (Mix- still uploading)

Don’t expect sobriety to stick, especially if Downey Jr. is a method actor. Can’t play a convincing Iron Man without being “drunk” (whatever poison gets the job done) off your tree.

As for Ocelot… not going to lie, “Lo Sforzo” mixes didn’t do it for me, but the “I Heart Daft Punk” set is well on it’s way. Nice cumulative track.
