There’s something so satisfying about a glorified 80’s electro rampage. Something neon and friendly. Like Sharon Stone at the beginning of Total Recall, right after she tries to roll on Schwarzenegger. When she gets all kinky in her tennis/aerobics workout gear. Ha.
I’ve never really posted much Miami Horror, and I have no excuse as to why not. I like his stuff. It’s great! Especially the fact that he’s not from Miami at all, the ‘Horror is from Melbourne. The remix of Soft Tigers‘ “Mr. Ice Cream” found it’s way onto my radar a few days ago, and it’s been a nice distraction from how grey and bleak the weather has been this last week in Chicago. It’s supposed to snow in the next following days- maybe. And songs like these are making me want to fly out to Miami, maybe get all tatted up and drink mojitos under a cabana. Or do donuts in a motorcycle smoking cuban cigars. Something racey and cliche.
That Grafton Primary remix is also pretty killer, but honestly- the vocals during the first segment get a little irritating after the first few listens. But I get it, it’s super retro and fits right into the message being projected. And as the chorus builds they get better. “5 Feet Of Snow” is massive. The other two remixes should be ipod standards by now, but just in case you missed them the first thousand times they made their rounds- there they are. Miami Horror has a nice way of maintaining a unique and consistent post-disco, pre-trance vibe suitable to transform any dancefloor into a tropical paradise.
Grafton Primary – I Can Cook (Miami Horror Remix)
Soft Tigers – Mr. Ice Cream (Miami Horror Remix)
Bloc Party – The Prayer (Miami Horror Remix)
The Dirty Secrets – 5 Feet Of Snow (Miami Horror Remix)
Midnight Juggernauts – Road To Recovery (Miami Horror Remix)
