How did this one slip under my radar? Apparently Dimitri From Paris is in town tonite over at Zentra Nightclub. Dimitri has an extensive history in the French house scene, having a hand in mixing literally hundreds of records from New Order to Bjork.
“As the French Ambassador of house music, Dimitri from Paris is everything his nation could be proud of: a DJ, producer, and remixer of the highest standard, and a stylish snake-hipped pin-up with French reserve. In a nutshell, there are two distinct sides to Dimitri: a undeniable dandy and, a devoted dance music fanatic.”
This cat has style. Who else spends a great deal of their early career producing runway soundtracks for fashion labels such as Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Hermès and Yves Saint-Laurent? The event is brought to us by House Arrest, in celebration of their 4 year anniversary! So there ought to be a lot of drinking and dancing. You can get reduced cover if you RSVP. Here are a few songs to chew on if you’re still on the fence. (Still not sure if the Daft Punk collaboration track is legit…)
Crystal Waters - Gypsy Woman (Dimitri From Paris Remix)
Dimitri From Paris - Une Very Stylish Fille
Daft Punk & Cassius & Dimitri From Paris - Shut It
Bjork - Isobel (Dimitri From Paris Remix)

So as far as Dimitri’s Crystal Waters “REMIX” goes, I have a question. The instrumental part sounds exactly like a sped up “Samba Version” that I already have which is originally 102 bpm. I’m curious to know if Dimitri actually produced that particular “Samba Version” or did he just mash the pre-existing track with the Water’s acapella?
