Damnit. I’m not going to be here for the Digitalism show. The show that I have been planning on seeing for so long now. For months now.
I have to go back to Scottsdale to move all the rest of my crap out here, and drive Ellena’s car back here. And though the trip will be an awesome good time, I am regretful that I’ll miss the band who in my opinion has produced the best album of the year. “Idealism” is epic. Epic, I tell you! I strongly urge you to go to this show, especially if you’ve been digging the recent acts that have rolled through like Riot in Belgium, Simian Mobile Disco, Crystal Castles & Toxic Avenger- just to name a few, this show is definitely right up your alley.
Hailing from Germany, Jence & Isi are Digitalism. And they are further proof that Berlin isn’t just for minimal heads. “Idealism” their first full length album is astounding. Even after months of overkill, I still can’t play it out. It has all of the elements of modern electro-clash, throw in some of the punk rock edge, take away the uninspired dingy regurgitated production that has consistently been reoccurring. They coast on the cutting edge. These tracks are dancefloor bangers, dark, dreamy, reflective think pieces with touches of charm that you won’t find in anyone’s work. Totally legit, songs like “Pogo” & “Idealistic” will never grow old. They will remain as deep and provocative as they are for the rest of time.
I’ve been waiting so long to do a full piece on this band. Here are a few songs to bang your head into your wall to. The show is on Friday at Smartbar, and unless you’re heading out to Arizona with me tomorrow you have no reason why you shouldn’t be there.
Digitalism – Pogo
Jence – Pogo Galactica (Original Mix)
Digitalism – Pogo (Mentalism Remix)
Digitalism – Idealistic (Original Mix)
Digitalism – Idealistic (A-Trak Dub Mix)
I youtube’d Digitalism and this is what I came up with. Gotta love the internet.

Bummer you can’t go! Well, thanks for the remixes. Pogo is MINT.
