I got a message from Johnny Love over at GUNS’n'BOMBS the other day. He was talking about being in Chicago either this weekend or next. I tried to get further details, but didn’t hear back from him. After searching around a bit, I found out courtesy of Sleazy V what the deal is. They’ll be playing at The Dick House (…haha) right south of the Pink Line, go figure. It’s at 2501 W.25th (Map Here). Here’s a little preview. See ya there.

Chromeo – Fancy Footwork (Guns’N'Bombs Remix)
Proxy – Din Dah (Sleazy V Re-Edit)
UK remix wizard, NoKillNoBeat, describes his sound as “…Radiohead if they ditched Hail To The Thief, threw OK Computer together with Kid A, got rid of “Treefingers” and had a massive party. Twice.” Well, let’s put it to the test. He recently sent me a copy of his new remix of “Videotape” by none other than Radiohead themselves. On top of that, here’s his “Air War” remix that is going to be featured on the Crystal Castles next release as a b-side.
Radiohead – Videotape (Advert Shock Remix)
Crystal Castles – Air Kill (Advert Shock Remix)
Man, I recently got ahold of this track and can not stop banging my head in my car to it. Walter Meego, fellow Chicago native, is becoming quite the star himself lately. He’ll be back in town at the end of the month, but I just can’t wait to post this little piece. The vocals are the perfect touch in this joint.

I’m still totally digging this track after weeks of listening. I still can’t get it out of my head. There’s something so subtle and complex. So moving to it. It’s the dancefloor kill that could easily be mistaken for a headphone think piece. Well played. The Quietboy strikes a note that resonates well for me.

In antipation for the Digitalism show in a week exactly, I am going to post some of their tunes. If you have yet to hear their work, pull your head out of your toilet- or whatever you keep stuffing it into, and tune in. These two have the best album of the year (Disagree? Post a title, I’ll take a Pepsi Challenge any day). I listen to that album over and over again forever, and I’m as ADD as it gets and go through music like a crackhead through lightbulbs.
Digitalism – Pogo (Mentalism Remix)
Tiga – Far From Home (Digitalism Remix)
Digitalism-Ray of Zdarlight (Wham Vs Digitalism)
Over the past few months, after listening to his albums, Fink has really grown on me. He sticks out like a sore thumb over at Ninjatune Records, but maybe that’s his charm. He employs the tortured artist gig so well, and his songwriting reflects on him as a person, as a human being. I feel like I can pull little pieces of myself out of each of his good tracks, pieces of memory, regret & nostalgia. He’s so powerful with the few resources that he employs. Lotta heart here.
