Grey Days

Ok, who’s on board with me saying that this Facebook crap has spun completely and totally out of control? What used to be an interesting user-platform for it’s simplicity and purity regarding promotional racket has now, thanks to program developers, turned into a nightmare. No, i don’t want to be a facebook zombie. No, not a pirate either. And i don’t care what football team you like, where i am on your hotness-meter, or if you buy me a digital shot of tequila. How about buying me a real shot of tequila? At a bar.

And on to music. Some Junior Boys feels pretty good right now. I saw them play at Coachella this year, walked into the tent as they were playing ‘Birthday’ and melted. They’re very impressive live. A great set/great band/great day. I went from that tent to the Soulwax tent. Ha. Let’s just say it was quite a contrast.

Junior Boys - Birthday (Live @ HigherGound 04.08.07)

Junior Boys - In The Morning (Hot Chip Remix)

In the past two months or so, since South American electro-pop group The Twelves hit the ground running all over every website imaginable, I have finally come around to posting them. The Twelves are actually a duo, made up of J.Miguel & Liciano Oliveira and occasionally Anne, who drops in on some of their tracks and sings. Their remix work is stellar, the MIA remix is better than any I have heard so far. Just check the tracks below.

Asobi Seksu - Thursday (The Twelves Remix)

MIA - Boys (The Twelves Remix)

And fit for the perfect segue from an MIA track, we have ourselves Santogold. Throwing down with some of the best producers around, including Switch, Sinden, Spankrock & Diplo, Santogold rocks a style of hip hop geared towards ears south of the equator. And though she is from NY, she has an enormous following in countries overseas. Her album will be dropping shortly, so keep an eye out for this chick.

Santogold - You’ll Find A Way (Switch and Sinden Remix)

Santogold - Creator

Is it me? Or are Tthe Bloody Beetroots everywhere right now? Straight out of Italy, rocking crimson Spider Man masks onstage, the ‘Beetroots bring walls down with their remix work, and are steadily touring in Europe for the next few weeks. Oh, and they haven’t even yet released their first EP. Don’t expect that one for another couple of months at least, they’re planning to drop it in ‘08. Hopefully earlier than later.

The Whip - Muzzle No1 (Bloody Beetroots Remix)

Goose - Everybody (Bloody Beetroots Chipmunk Remix)

Captain Phoenix - Pistols & Hearts (Bloody Beetroots Remix)

This post is for my friends in Scottsdale. Le Castle Vania is rolling through town, and will be dropping set over at e4. He’s gained notoriety the past few months for his monthly gigs with fellow DJ, Treasure Fingers, called “Fuck Yesss“. When i get the money, I’ll fly out and check it out for myself, but for now I have these. (That Snowden remix is so great).

Le Castle Vania - Trouble In Daylight (LA Riots Remix)

Snowden - Black Eyes (Le Castle Vania Remix)

And to swtich gears real quick, here’s The Octopus Project. As an experimental pop/rock group, they gained a lot of momentum on the internet this week and caught my ear a few days ago. Both of these songs really sank in after a few listens. having released four albums thus far, their latest “House of Apples and Eyeballs” last year, The Octopus Project are currently on a tour that spans all across North America. So check the Myspace page to see when their rolling through your town.
