Vitalic
Vitalic, another amazing electro genius hails from France- Suprise!!- I feel like I’ve been posting enough French house to be considered an offshoot colony long forgotten from the 19th century, rediscovered through internet pilgrimage. Vitalic’s first release was in 2001, entitled ‘Poney EP’ and dropped under DJ Hell’s label, Gigolo Records.
Vitalic rocks a style of electronic music that is heavily infused with powerful synths that rifle away beneath the beat and often become the foreground in a harmonic and celestial chaos. 2005 was a big year for Vitalic as he dropped “Ok Cowboy” – one of my favorite albums and a testament to the power of the synthesizer. Most of the tracks I will post here will be samples from that release. Take “Juliet India” for instance there is a lot there that is both calming and alarming. In some of his works, there are trace elements of polka that I pull out randomly as well.
These days, it’s a littler irregular to hear Vitalic’s music dropped in DJ sets and I don’t know why. If you ask me, these are bonafied floor killers, bound to grab the attention of even the most scatterbrained listener. It’s all in the details here.
