ahh back to chicago. i love this city. the past few days have been spent idly drinking and wandering, trying to figure out where i am going to move. what makes it more difficult is the fact that all my friends are spread out, giving me a wide range of experiences and decisions as to what i will do with my nightlife, and my time in general. this goes without the little things like flash floods to make me reconsider my journey altogether. chicago got hit with what appeared to be a tsunami, sending trees flying everywhere and cars to high grounds. thank god i can play super nintendo on my computer, because there was no power anywhere. oh the precious commodity of battery life.

on a lighter note, i was able to see riot in belgium at sonotheque and it was quite an experience. for one thing, riot is not overrated. as i walked into the club, i could have sworn that one of the guys was boy george, but i was obviously mistaken. separating the act from the crowd was a fiberglass case that you would see in a prison visitors chamber. the floor was full of hipsters. and gay people. riot in belgium’s performance of the klaxons’ ‘gravity’s rainbow’ was devastating, sending tremors throughout the rest of their performance that echoed the classic, even into feist’s ‘my moon my man’ (the boys noize remix that i posted a bit ago). great way to end the night. but what really stood out was their justice ‘dvno’ remix. seeing that track played live always does more for me than ever playing it to myself.
