After tons of ticketing issues that I don’t care to talk about right now, and airline miles burnt like draft cards, I am going to Chicago. I’ll be getting in pretty late due to an annoying layover in Dallas, which I hope does not end up as an overnight stay- like every other airline experience in Dallas has produced.
Aside from that, I’m stoked. I love Chicago and there’s some awesome shit going on in the city the week that i’ll be in town. First off, my sister will be there for a day or two while I’m in, and I’ll be able to kick it with her. Aside from that, Wrigley Field, Lake Michigan and other distractions, there’s a few shows to check out.
First there’s a Riot in Belgium show on Wednesday at Sonotheque. Their self described ‘brain fried acid house’ ought to be quite a spectacle for a weekday night, and from what I’ve heard, Sonotheque is a pretty tight club. Riot is composed of DJ Belgium, the Cut Copy legend, and DJ Damage of the Bang Gang- both Australian festival killers that will absolutely destroy small crowds of mostly unfamiliar heads that they’ll encounter on their U.S. tour. I hope to drag a few friends out who will probably be a little reluctant to rock out until 3am with work the next day. Good thing i have none of that!
Riot in Belgium – La Musique
Riot in Belgium – La Musique (Revolver Remix)
Riot in Belgium – La Musique (Sinden Remix)
Riot in Belgium – La Musique (Jbag Re-Edit)
Riot in Belgium – La Musique (Adam Sky Remix)
Kim – Wet N Wild (Riot in Belgium Remix)
Dardanedies – Of Course You Said (Riot in Belgium Mix)
Franz and Shape – The Man Who Paid Before (Riot in Belgium’s Bedroom Remix)
And I don’t even want to talk about the Para One and Surkin show that is coming up for fear of jinxing it and facing a cancel. The date is august 30th at the Darkroom. Surkin’s going to tear your face off with his set, expect to be amazed if you go. His jams tend to side witha more glitchy, controlled and tight sound that will ignite right in front of you. It’s all in the details. Para One’s the headliner, here, but honestly I’m much more excited to see Surkin as he’s starting to emerge into the forefront of the French ‘new rave’ house movement. Para One is a gimme. That guys a madman. Here we have another amazing show taking place on a weekday night, and i’m not complaining.
Surkin – Radio Fireworks (Riot in Belgium Remix)
Teki Latex- Les Matins De Paris (Surkin

Boys Noize – Don’t Believe the Hype (Surkin Remix)
