Joakim, french producer extraordinare, converted to electronic music after being left with a keyboard one afternoon, and firmly practices being eclectic when producing. This is becoming a trend in the dance world, i feel. A post-trance static hangover to wake up to.

After recently stumbling upon his work, most notably his cajuan remix of ‘Raven’, I have been banging many, many of his tracks as of late. Couple songs like that with the reputable talent of Poni Hoax’s lead singer and you have yourself the ‘Lonely Hearts’ single- a more heartfelt rock anthem, less dance-oriented, yet not lacking in technique. Don’t get used to it though, because the next song is going to be completely different, yet equally genius. It’s this kind of originality that leaves me breathless; the kind of scope that only those with incredible talent can achieve. part rock guitar head banger, part post-rave, part new wave, part abysmal goth and part classical piano. Even a series of tracks interrupt the album, titled ‘Monster’- existing as instrumental potholes set to derail the listener and prepare them for what’s coming up next. The album is named after them, no title track anecdotal reference. I love it.
