This one’s for Sister, and Ellena, I guess.. They’re big Radiohead fans. If you haven’t heard of Radiohead by now, you’re a recluse or listen to way too much top 40 garbage. Here’s a single called ‘The Amazing Sounds of Orgy’ -it’s a B-Side from the Kid A single. Enjoy.

Timberlake & Diplo?

I’m not quite sure how Justin Timberlake somehow has these amazing producers remixing his songs (DFA?… really??) he’s such a pop icon that I would have thought it to be club suicide to drop a JT track on a dancefloor of serious electronic music fans, but apprently I’m wrong. I was surprised enough to hear Junkie XL’s recent remix, even hearing him drop it on a crowd of trance-heads at Myst on a friday night, and to my surprise- they loved it.

Dragonette Gets Around

Canadian electro quartet, Dragonette has emerged into the limelight this year with a fury, demanding the cliché comparisons between martina sorbara- the lead singer- and pop idols Madonna and Gwen Stefani. It’s the same treatment that Shiny Toy Guns received upon dropping their latest album. because there are so few talented women in the public eye these days that they must all be the same, right? I couldn’t disagree more.

Joakim, french producer extraordinare, converted to electronic music after being left with a keyboard one afternoon, and firmly practices being eclectic when producing. This is becoming a trend in the dance world, i feel. A post-trance static hangover to wake up to.

After recently stumbling upon his work, most notably his cajuan remix of ‘Raven’, I have been banging many, many of his tracks as of late. Couple songs like that with the reputable talent of Poni Hoax’s lead singer and you have yourself the ‘Lonely Hearts’ single- a more heartfelt rock anthem, less dance-oriented, yet not lacking in technique. Don’t get used to it though, because the next song is going to be completely different, yet equally genius. It’s this kind of originality that leaves me breathless; the kind of scope that only those with incredible talent can achieve. part rock guitar head banger, part post-rave, part new wave, part abysmal goth and part classical piano. Even a series of tracks interrupt the album, titled ‘Monster’- existing as instrumental potholes set to derail the listener and prepare them for what’s coming up next. The album is named after them, no title track anecdotal reference. I love it.

Treasure Fingers’ Dirty Digits

Apparently the dirty south has more to offer than rap music that I don’t want to listen to! Out of Atlanta, and left field, comes Treasure Fingers and his blend of dirty disco. Gathering reputation for his newest Fergie remix of ‘Gamorous’ - He has been able to showcase his electro infused dance blend that has gained enormous popularity in other regions of the world, slowly creeping into the American clubs with their ear to the ground. I’m left wondering why he chose to remix Fergie in the first place, you’d figure people into the disco house vibe wouldn’t like her. I guess people do strange things sometimes. You know I’m really pulling for her and that meth problem she’s having. Gimme a fucking break.

That Snowden song is on fire. It makes me want to dance in circles wherever I hear it. I could be getting a lasik eye surgery and have to get up and shake my shit for that piece. Too classic. I’m all for buying a ticket to georgia, who’s in?

Digitalism, the German based duo has found it’s way into sets all across Europe, even reaching into Japan for a short stay. I missed their show at Coachella because of time constraints, which is really killing me now that I have given their album a thorough one through. Regardless, these guys demand attention with their most recent album, “Idealism”, and there should be an EP coming up in the next few weeks that I am really excited for.

“Idealism” stands out as one of the best this year, alongside Justice, SMD and Midnight Juggernauts. Tracks like ‘Pogo’ illustrate their versatility, and owe as much credit to early English punk rock legends as their disco house counterparts. With difficulty in defining genres, Digitalism has achieved what other groups have not by mastering a CD that expands all over the board. Lo-Fi approaches work, and head banging nail-on-chalkboard machines screaming work as well- there’s a little something for everybody. Though many critics debase the album for a lack of uniformity, it is my firm belief that this is what people are looking for now, or at least what Europeans are.

Insanity. In the DJ booth and in our room, people on this and that, dancing, making out, breaking high heels, etc. - It was a good time. Bright lights and friendly people. Tommie sunshine was as impressive as I thought he was going to be. His style is truly one of the future of sounds electronic music- one not limited by boundaries such as genre, Sunshine easily blends it all together. My favorite mix of his was the Tiga ‘You’re Gonna Want Me’ track that he tore apart. The crowd loved it.
